Really changes the appearance!!
I was actually just looking for something like this, because my dog was too afraid to go down the basement stairs w/o carpeting! I know that sounds crazy! Anyway, I wasn't concerned much about the appearance, since that was not the motive, but...I was amazed how much it brightened up the stairs, and made them look so much nicer! They seem to be made pretty well, and seem to stay in place pretty well too. I'm very happy with them.

Wife wanted nice oak stairs, but they turned out too slippery in socks she landed in cat box at bottom. Theses tread are very nice, wash by machine easily, but do wear out. We usually buy two sets at a time. We like the treads though, look very nice on the oak stairs.
Made a dogs life a little easier
Our senior citizen Boxer started having trouble going up and down our wood stairs for fear of losing her footing and it got to the point where she needed to be carried. I bought these carpet treads and she will now go up and down the stairs on her own again. They have been a life saver and at a price that can't be beat. Even though I bought them for a purpose other than the look, they ended up matching my decor nicely. They have a rubber backing which helps them stay in place.
